Tingrithang Gram Panchayat Unit (G.P.U.) is located in the Namchi district of the Himalayan state of Sikkim. It falls under the 10th Poklok-Kamrang Constituency and is administered by the Namchi Block Administrative Center. The GPU is situated approximately 12 kilometers from Namchi, the district headquarters.
Tingrithang GPU comprises five wards: Upper Tingrithang, Lower Tingrithang, Kholaghari, Pabong, and Pakzer.
The name Tingrithang originates from the Lepcha languageββTingriβ meaning βdarkβ and βThangβ meaning βgroundβ or βmeadow,β collectively interpreted as βdark ground.β
The region enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with average summer temperatures around 24Β°C and winter temperatures ranging between 12Β°C and 15Β°C. Agriculture and horticulture are the primary occupations, with nearly 80% of the population engaged in cultivating a diverse range of crops and vegetables.
The Village Administrative Centre (V.A.C.) is an administrative institution under the Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim.
